Price & Thread is a price-verification publication for clothing sales. We track what stores actually charge, check every “% OFF” claim against independent evidence, and label each deal by how much of it we could verify — so a manufactured markdown can't outrank a real one.

The table above is queried live from our database at page load. As of July 21, 2026, the catalog behind it held 24,907 products across 203,796 size-level listings, with 39,245 price observations in the permanent history log — a number that only grows, since price history is append-only.

What we do

Most “70% OFF” banners are measured against a price nobody was paying. Our pipeline snapshots store catalogs, logs every observed price permanently, measures each retailer's discount culture (how deeply they routinely mark down, across their whole sale section), and grades every live discount against independent evidence. Deals that can't be corroborated aren't hidden — they're labeled in amber as exactly what they are: the retailer's word.

The full methodology — every badge, every phrase, and the evidence each one requires before it can render — is public at how we verify. Two of its rules: a struck-through “was” price appears only when independent evidence supports it, and stores that pay us a commission get the same verification math as stores that don't (disclosure).

Where verification stands: as of July 21, 2026, 11,099 live offers were corroborated (one independent evidence source), 1,670 were labeled claimed (the retailer's word only), and zero carried the full “Verified” badge — that tier requires two independent evidence kinds, and our second sources are still accruing.

How we gather data

We read the same public catalog endpoints a browser reads, and we do it politely: requests are rate-limited to at most one every two seconds per store and sent with a descriptive user-agent string that identifies us. We take full-catalog snapshots on a fixed cycle rather than hammering pages, and every price we observe is stored with its timestamp and source. If we've labeled a price wrong — whether you're a shopper or the merchant being labeled — we want to know. Email hello@priceandthread.com; we aim to respond to merchant disputes within 72 hours, and published studies carry versioned correction logs.
